![]() | Some long for the beach, some the open fields or wooded path. If you are like me, you find relief from the world gazing and walking the mountains. We all need to find our place to recharge. |

I have loved the woods my entire life. From the time I was sent off to girl scout camp at nine years old, I have loved the sight and smell of being in the forest. There is a calm, a connection, a peacefulness.
Being in the center of nature can have a profound impact on your life.
It can effect your emotional state, stress and well-being.
Research shows evidence that just being out in nature has a great impact our brains and behavior, helps us to reduce our anxiety and at the same time increases our awareness and attention, our creativity, and the ability to connect with other people around us. Wow!
Today we live in a society where people spend a great deal of their time indoors and online. This is dangerous for our mind and body. Think about youth and children. They are being disconnected from an environment that could bring them so much well-being, confidence and knowledge.
Instead of sitting, staring and being secluded...get out in the quietness of nature.
Nature decreases stress - walking, hiking, fishing, camping, you name it! Any outdoor physical activity can reduce stress. For me, there is so much benefit and pleasure in walking through the forest.
Research has shown that those who walked in forests had significantly lower heart rates, more relaxation, better moods and less anxiety than those who walked in urban settings.
- Studies show that even just looking out of a window onto a natural scene, somehow soothed and relieved anxiety.
- Spending time outdoors exposes us to sunlight, which helps our bodies produce vitamin D (and low levels of D have been linked to depression - so get it tested).
My advice:
If you are always on a device, cell phone or in front of a screen...YOU NEED SUN & TREE's !
